2009年是新中国成立六十周年，也是历经沧桑变化的六十年。该剧讲述了高树江和白玉兰这对老党员夫妻六十年的坎坷人生命运，他们经历了中国六十年间风雨道路上的重大社会及民生事件，抗日胜利、开国大典、抗美援朝、精兵简政、大跃进、建国十周年、文革、十一届三中全会、知青返城、全民经商、两岸融合、改革开放……他们的命运和时代紧密地联系在一起，他们的婚姻也打上了鲜明的时代烙印。高树江夫妻对党的忠诚必将带给我们内心深处的感动。60载时代的潮起潮落，60年婚姻的风雨同舟，风云变幻的时代再现了两个党员六十年相濡以沫的传奇人生。该剧将是新中国成立六十周年的献礼片！

1960年2月，在山西省平陆县，数万名民工为支援三门峡建设工程，正在热火朝天地修筑风南公路。县委书记郝世山正在组织召开县委扩大会。突然，县公安局燕局长向郝书记汇报：风南公路第三连有6l位民工发生食物中毒，情况很危险。郝书记立即宣布休会赶赴现场。郝书记一面亲自领导抢救，一面派公安局燕局长调查案情。医院的医护人员全力投入抢救，经过会诊和化验的结果，证明是砒霜中毒，因民工中毒太深，非用特效药“二巯基丙醇”不可。当得知三门峡市药店有这种药时，郝书记立即派两名司药员火速前去寻找。可那里只有20支，离所需的1000支相差甚远。郝书记一边给省委陶书记打电话求援，一边派人四处寻找。虽然找到一些，但数量很少，而且因路途较远，救不了急，61条生命危在旦夕。消息终于传到北京，中央和毛主席都很关心。卫生部积极组织人力，从药品商店、药品仓库寻找此药，当药品准备齐后，卫生部药政处的江处长指示多备1000支以做备份。为了尽快将药运走，民航局、人民空军，都紧急行动起来，把药品及时空投到平陆县，几千双手高举着，迎接着从天而降的药箱。药品送到医院，医护人员实施紧急抢救，把61位民工从死亡线上拉了回来。与此同时，投毒的坏人张德才、回生娃被逮捕法办。
